Hi. This is Kristi and this is my story and why I am raising funds for three babies in China.
It all started in China. I was left in the street because I was born with a cleft lip and palate. I was later sent to an orphanage and was there for 7 years until I was adopted. During this time in the United States Greg and Deborah Coffey were thinking about adopting a girl. They had gone to the CHI place to look at all the available childrens' pictures. My picture was the first one they saw and they knew I was the one for them. It took a couple of months do all the paperwork and then they came to China to get me. Finally we were able to go home, but it was just the beginning.
I needed a lot of medical work done to repair my cleft palate. My parents immediately started with a cleft palate team of doctors at a children's hospital. There were numerous surgeries and many many years of orthodontic work. There were many hours of driving back and forth to these visits. It was getting tiring! But now I'm almost done!
Why I need your help
I am raising money to help three babies born in China who have cleft lips and palates. The money will go to help them get the surgeries they need so they can live a normal life and maybe be adopted. I plan to raise $3000 for the babies. Please help these kids! I'm going back to China in June 2010 to help at the orphanage, and hope to have this money raised for the babies before then.
